After coughing up an early 6-1 lead to second-seeded North Salem and going into halftime tied at seven, sixth-seeded Pearl River came back to win 14-11 at Volunteers Field in a Class C semifinal game.
After North Salem’s Kaitlyn Murphy opened the scoring four minutes into the game, Pearl River scored six unanswered goals over the next five minutes to take a 6-1 lead.
However, North Salem’s Paige Werlau and Haley Vermette led an offensive surge that saw the Tigers tie the game at seven with 34 seconds left in the first half.
After Pearl River’s Maggie Davin and North Salem’s Ryann Shaughnessy exchanged goals to open the second half, Pearl River got goals from Lindsey Stephen, Caroline Dolan and Davin to take a three-goal lead, which the Pirates would not relinquish the rest of the way.
Pearl River’s Davin had four goals and an assist, while Kayla Moreau and Courtney Ocasal both had hat-tricks.
For North Salem, Paige Werlau and Haley Vermette both had four-goal games.
Pearl River will play top-seeded Bronxville in the final at Torne Valley on Thursday at 3 p.m.
