Semifinals, played at higher seed
No. 4 North Rockland vs. No. 1 Suffern at Suffern Middle School, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: Suffern, 15-7. Bit of a slip up against Mahopac, but the Mounties just seem like an unstoppable force at this point. Tough to see them losing.
No. 3 White Plains at No. 2 Lakeland/Panas, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: White Plains, 12-11. White Plains had this game locked up when they played each other about a month ago, but let the Rebels fight their way back to earn a tie. Despite being on the road, I think the Tigers put forth a more complete-game effort and come away with the win.
No. 4 Nyack at No. 1 Somers, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Somers, 14-12. Tuskers have been a bit up and down, but when they are on their game I’m not sure there is a team in Class B that can beat them. They’ve also won a ton of close ones, which tends to give a team confidence late in games.
No. 6 Rye at No. 2 Yorktown, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Yorktown, 13-9. Yorktown’s defense has played well the past few games. The Huskers also handled the Garnets pretty easily earlier in the season.
No. 3 Pleasantville at No. 2 Pearl River, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Pearl River, 13-11. Just like White Plains and Lakeland/Panas, Pearl River had this game in the bag when the two teams played a few weeks ago, but let it slip away. I think the Pirates are able to pull it together and reach the finals.
No. 8 Edgemont at No. 4 Bronxville, 5:15 p.m.
Pick: Edgemont, 18-17. Toughest game to pick of the bunch. Edgemont’s big win over the Broncos in their last meeting is a bit of an outlier, as Bronxville was without Gretchen Richter for it. The 17-17 tie the two teams had on April 29 is more of an indication of how things will play out, in my eyes.
