At this point in the season, the word “undefeated” can be used few and far between. Only seven local teams remain that have yet to suffer defeat. Eastchester, Lakeland/Panas, North Salem, Rye Country Day, Somers, Ursuline and White Plains are the only squads in the area to have maintained that pristine zero in the loss column.
All seven teams had their standouts to help them remain perfect this week. The Tuskers’ Nicole DeMase came up with a clutch goal against Mahopac in the final minute. Carly Wooters (Ursuline), Ryan Shaughnessy (North Salem), Julia Massaro (Rye Country Day), Jordyn DiCostanzo (Eastchester), Kate Leone (White Plains) and Molly Fitzpatrick (Lakeland/Panas) all continued the impressive offensive production we’ve come accustomed to seeing out of them to secure wins/ties.
Still, it was a player on the opposite end of the pitch that had the best week.
Kelsey Fee, White Plains
There are no easy games in League II-A. That much was clear when the Tigers opened up league play with games against Scarsdale, Mamaroneck and Edgemont all in the same week. The senior goalie stood tall, though, keeping her opponents’ goals-per-game average to 6.3. Fee also recorded her 500th save in a 10-6 win at Edgemont.
Strong defense, obviously, is about more than one player, but Fee is a huge component of a White Plains’ defense that has yet to allow a team to score double digits on them.
