After falling in last year’s state semifinals, Rye Country Day looks poised to make a championship this season.
The Wildcats topped Fairchester Athletic Association league foe Convent of the Sacred Heart 15-10 on Thursday behind six goals from senior Julia Massaro.
Massaro, who is committed to play at Stanford next season, also had an assist in the win. Taylor Regan added three goals and four assists for Rye Country Day, which improved to 5-0 this year.
Emily Duarte and Samantha Kost also scored hat tricks for the Wildcats. Duarte also had two assists.
Convent of the Sacred Heart was the first team to score in double digits against the Wildcats this season. Rye Country Day had previously outscored opponents 54-27.
Best of rest: Holy Child’s Maggie Welsh had six goals and three assists in a 14-7 win against visiting Greens Farms Academy. … Northwestern-committed senior Kim Harker scored seven goals for Mahopac in a 17-7 win against visiting Clarkstown South. … John Jay secured its first win of the season, an 11-4 victory over Saratoga Springs.
