The first full week of games definitely did not disappoint in terms of impressive performances. We had a handful of locals reach big milestones.
White Plains senior midfielder Kate Leone scored her 200th goal last week. We also had a bunch of girls join the “100 goal” club. Hen Hud’s Amber Feminella, White Plains’ Shannon Lynch, Valhalla’s Mary Kelly, Albertus Magnus’ Madison Kandoth and Somers’ Nicole DeMase all scored their 100th career goals last week.
In any other week, all of the above stated players would be more than worthy of receiving this week’s “Beast of the Week” honor. One player, though, hit a pair of even bigger milestones.
Kaitlyn Rau, North Rockland—
Earning one all-time record at a program would be a big enough achievement for most people. Kaitlyn Rau isn’t most people, though.
Rau, who is committed to Villanova, currently sits at 311 points (248 goals, 63 assists) with essentially her entire senior season to pad her records. Rau also has a decent chance at passing Brianna Warner’s all-time assists mark of 83.
What’s most impressive about Rau is her ability to get to the goal. In the Red Raiders’ 11-5 win against Mahopac, Rau managed to score five goals despite drawing a face guard the entire game.
