A bit of non-playoff news for you.
In case you forgot, the U.S. Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament was this past weekend. I posted about the tournament about a month ago. It caused a bit of a stir on the blog. The Hudson Valley team ended up finishing 3-2 and placing fifth in the second-best division in the tournament, which was comprised of teams from throughout the country. When you consider the fact that many of the girls were about 18 hours removed from playing in a sectional final, it’s a pretty impressive accomplishment.
Still, one local faired particularly well. Bronxville senior Alina Atayan was a member of the “Forrest” team that won the championship in the senior-only division. Atayan, who is committed to play at Marquette, played on a team comprised of mid to high Division I high school seniors that was compiled by a committee of college coaches.
