Another week of playoff lacrosse means three more Beast of the week awards need to be handed out.
No need to waste any more time.
The sophomore came up big for the Mounties down the stretch. She had an eight-point day, yes eight points, against Scarsdale in a 18-8 shootout win in the semifinals.
She followed that up with a team-high three goals in Suffern’s 9-4 win over North Rockland to claim the Mounties’ first sectional title since 2005.
Lang has been solid as a rock for the Indians this entire season. It was nice to see her continue to produce in the postseason.
She opened things up with three goals and three assists in John Jay’s 22-12 semifinal win.
Lang followed that up with three goals and two assists as the Indians’ shocked the Huskers to claim the Class B sectional crown.
Cunningham had five points (four goals, one assist) in the Tigers 16-13 semifinal win. The real performance came in the finals. She led Putnam Valley with five goals and an assist. More importantly, she seemed to always score a goal whenever Albertus Magnus seemed primed to make a run.
