There has been some confusion about the difference between all-section and all-Elite. Lakeland/Panas coach Sharon Sarsen provides this explanation:

All Elite is the award that is given by the Coaches Association to honor our players. These players plus the alternates were invited (to the banquet) and recognized by the Coaches Association. Our Coaches Association decides how many players they want to recognize. This has always been the award given to our most talented players (with the exception of All American). I believe this year we recognized 66 All Elites along with 35 Honorable Mention All Elites.

All Section is a NEW award given by Section I.  This is the first spring that they have sponsored this award. They gave us 50 picks. We decided to keep our award going with the All Elites. We also supported Section I and selected the top 50 players as well.

All-section is a NEW award? But they were giving out All-Section Awards 11 years ago when I graduated. I know because I received this award my senior year. It was definately called All-Section as I just pulled down the plaque to double check and I remember going to the All-Section Dinner as well, in fact I’m sure I still have teh program from it too.
Did they do away with this honor for a while and then just bring it back this year? Can anyone clear this up for me?

i agree with pearl river fan. since when is all section a new award? i would think that the “all-elite” status is what is new. there has always been all league and all section (and all county, of course, based on the journal news selections).
