Both teams lost two All-Americans and a bunch more starters, but Lakeland/Panas and Suffern will meet in the Class a final for the third straight year after both teams won by one goal today.
Lakeland/Panas’ Anna Jeszeck scored off a pass with Melissa Hanson with eight seconds left in the first overtime, and Alex Fitzpatrick (19 saves) and the Rebels held the Indians scoreless after regulation in a 9-8 win. The Rebels led 5-1 and 8-6 but Mahopac scored twice in the final eight minutes to send the game into overtime. Kelsey Rehain had four goals for the Mounties, who beat North Rockland 10-9, while Taylor Moore had four goals for the Red Raiders.
Over at Yorktown, John Jay actually led 3-0 before the Cornhuskers made a 7-1 run. It was still just 11-9 midway through the second half Yorktown scored three straight to take command. Jaimie Morrison (right), who had six goals and one assist, and hit the 200-goal landmark.
Unlike Suffern and Lakeland/Panas, Yorktown will face its fourth different sectional final opponent (following Lakeland/Panas, John Jay and Greeley). Scarsdale beat Mamaroneck for the sixth time in two years, 19-11. Kimberley Leone scored eight goals and Jennie Pechman added six goals. Amanda Tuck scored four goals for the Tigers.

Wow that picture shows a great check! I forgot this was boys lacrosse and you could body check!
.. good thing this is 100% legal
Is it legal or not? Looks like she is touching the body. Was it a check or a push? Great picture by the way.
she’s lifting the butt of morrisons stick—perfectly legal.
looks to me like she missed jaimies stick and just got her body..
Looks like she didnt miss a beat.
Who knows what legal is anymore? After watching the Suffern-NRock game I wonder if the referees read the same rule book. They certainly don’t apply the rules similarly from one referee to another. Unfortunately for all the athletes on the field – there were no winners in yesterdays Suf-NR game becasue one ref decided she would make the game about her from the start. Whistle after whistle she made calls that left players, coaches and fans shocked. even the winning team looked as if they had just lost the game. You heard it from everyone after the game, both sides understood the frustration. The referee robbed the athletes of the chance to play the game against each other and left them trying to figure out how to play the game in her world. What a shame! When a ref determines the outcome of a game rather than the athletes playing the game everyone feels dejected, defeat is even more bitter and victory is spoiled.
I couldn’t agree more cc: the Suff/NRock game. I am aware that there are older refs that diagree with the evolution of the girls game – however, the section semi finals are not an appropriate venue to air or in this case act out your philosophical differences. She was not content to ref a safe game for both teams but inserted herself in the game by dictating the pace of the game. The girls spent so much time watching the ref for her flag and listening for her whistle that the rhythm and flow, something that makes lax such a beautiful game to watch, was interrupted. And Legal? was correct in that she materially damaged the experience for both teams involved. I suggest that the coaches respectfully request that she retire or if that is not possible, make sure she NEVER refs a game of that magnitude again.
legal? let’s talk about the yellow card on the illegal stick followed by the same player throwing the new stick at the ref. That is just disrespectful.
Hopefully there will be better refs in the finals.
Lets not attack the girls who got two yellows and lets be a bit fair here. Referee Ted could not have pushed the ball into the crosses any further if he tried. Both coaches and the other referee were shocked by his behavior. That poor kid had every right to be pissed off, Ted did not deserve her respect. Ted called one of the worst games I have seen. Ted should go to the boys game where he would be skinned alive by their coaches and parents and would feel the rather of the other male officials (who are very hard on each other). Who holds these guys accountable in the first place?
excuse me but i also saw the john jay yorktown game, just as an unbiased spectator and ted called a great game. that player was incredibly disrespectful and ted did not deserve that.
lax – you clearly weren’t at the game so you can’t try and make a point because the yorktown player didn’t get a yellow for a illegal stick… obviously.
Who in this Ted ref ? Just the fact that people know his name means that he no longer is calling games but is influencing games.
When you become so obviously biased that teams and fans dread when they see you show up its time to reevaluate why you ref. Do you now carry your personal baggage into the game (i’ll show them to question me). If so then its time to quit. We don’t want you. There are plenty of refs that we don’t know their names and never will. Why ? Because the games they ref don’t become about them.
dear everyone,
the refs against the yorktown john jay game did a great job, they let the girls play. yorktown are just being overdramatic because they had a scare that john jay could have beat them.
.. hopefully when we play them in the finals ted will be there calling the game
“stop using the refs as an excuse”-
Since you are saying “hopefully when we play them in the finals” you are implying that you are a Scarsdale player which means you were playing your own game at the time of the Yorktown John Jay game. So you don’t know how the game was called because you weren’t there. So you wouldn’t have known that the whistle was blown every other second which clearly means they didn’t let them play. Ted is an awful ref!
the refs were horrible at that game end of story.
also you probably just want ted to ref the finals so he can call more god awful calls against town
I was at the town/jj game. The kid got caught with an illegal stick…intentional or not her reaction spoke volumes. ref ted is just one of the many refs that people have come to know by name over the years (for both good and bad calls). I wonder if Ted will be reffing the game tonight??!
Hopefully he won’t be! GO TOWN!!
“here”.... clearly a yorktown fan or player.. the game was on live so i was able to watch it
thats all
the jj yortown game was a great game, and the refs did a great job. sorry town if you were a little scared.
To ‘Here’
I guess you’re right, it didn’t really matter about the illegal stick…but the player did manage to still get two yellow cards…one for a stick check and a second for THROWING HER STICK AT THE REF. so you’re right…she is still a dirty player.
“Besides that, the ‘Huskers lost senior starter Patti Kaishian at the end of the first half to a double yellow card, the first for an earlier illegal check and the second for a show of emotion after the referee threw out her stick because it didn’t meet legal specifications.” straight from lohud.
I was at the game, and saw it. But thank you anways for clarifying. And your still wrong. One for throwing the stick, another for a check to the face. The point is, people are trying to alienate Yorktown when the truth is nobody has no idea what happened! Go Town! Congrats to all the Section 1 winners you all worked so hard!
once again “here” i’m not wrong considering you just repeated what i said. one for the check and one for throwing the stick. awesome.
stop being so dramatic. the girl threw her stick at the ref, first of all have some self control. second of all it was great to see her cry like a baby on the sidelines
All of you are talking about how she threw her stick at the ref and how classless that us, but look at yourself? “it was great to see her cry like a baby on the sidelines.” ... Classy! GO TOWN!
wow. “drama” honestly lets hope you aren’t a parent talking about a player like that. she put her heart into the game, and anyone would have been mad when her old coach used that tactic against her because JJ was just scored on. Even though it was a close game, Town did win so regardless of what you guys are saying Town went on to win Scarsdale too so they are still playing, and i would love to see them continue to go undefeated. Also Congrats to Nyack and Lakeland, way to pull it out!
regardless of what ‘drama’ said, the player was extremely disrespectful to the ref, and that is unacceptable. SO nonetheless, john jay played a great game and yortown played again, but honestly whats done is done, and town especially, just move on and be happy with your section title. jay, it was a good ride girls, there’s always next year to look forward to.
