Big week at Yorktown

November
13

This was an exciting week at Yorktown, with four seniors signing National Letters of Intent to play Division I college lacrosse.

Jaimie Morrison (Notre Dame), Amanda Trendell (Rutgers), Brianna Concialdi (UMass) and Brittnay Mabus (Iona). Lauren Hayes (George Mason) should also be joining them soon.

“It’s nice to coach kids who really enjoy the sport and want to pursue it as they move forward,” ‘Huskers coach Ellen Mager said.

Here’s a quick scouting report on how each player can help their college programs next year.

Morrison: Terrific stick skills and one of the program’s hardest workers, her combination of talent and work ethic will be a real asset

Trendell: One of the most ferocious players you’ll find. She’s aggressive and doesn’t scare easily.

“Peachy” (Concialdi): Tremendous athleticism, really turned it on in the playoffs. She’s ready to explode at the college level.

Mabus: She’s crafty with her stick, and as a lefty, she brings a lot to the table.

Hayes: Just started playing goalie in high school, but she has good size and has grown quickly in the position.

I’ll have more in a newspaper article that will run early next week, and the other three seniors are also looking at colleges. Yorktown certainly looks like the team to beat this year.
