The Journal News Westchester/Putnam all-star and Rockland all-county teams have been announced. They can be found in a special section in today’s newspaper, but you can also see them on our special all-star web pages.
Here are the links for Westchester/Putnam and for Rockland.
There were some very difficult choices, mainly because there were so many talented girls this year. Congratulations to everyone who made it.

CONGRATS TO ALL THE KIDS GETTING HONORS AND IN PARTICULAR TO GORDON AND KEOUGH FROM “MY TEAM”, RYE.
GO HUDSON VALLEY!!
Congratulations to all the girls!! But, am I the only one who noticed the leading point scorer in Rockand County, leading assists holder in section 1 was left off first team.
What’s up with that??
Where’e Emily Biondi????
where’s so many of the girls I expected to see -this isn’t just a one team team is it???? This whole team including 2nd and HM seems very odd But alas, the high scorers don’t always make the political favor cut -this isn’t the only sport
I agree with rocklax, how did that happen? A misprint is my first guess.
FINLAX
wow rocklax, apparently a lot of misprints. is it my understanding of the game that as an attack player you should at least be on the list of high scorers to have made first or second team, since that is their primary job? or maybe not. A case of it’s not what you accomplish it’s who’s voting. To be honest, when reading whose on the teams and whose on the scoring list people figure these things out on their own. congrats to all who made it!! To those who didn’t, people know who should be and why others are!
Congratulations to all of the girls who were selected. 1st team, 2nd team & honorable mention. Thank you all for a great season. When I opened up my paper Friday morning to see the JN selections for All County I was certainly surprised to say the least at a few of the names. As in the past people will take exception to who is picked for a team or an award. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. However it seems that there are certain coaches who seem to have a more powerful influence than others. Please, 5 girls from Suffern? While they had a great season and did play a tough schedule some of them are questionable. A mid-fielder was moved to defense. Why? Just so she could get in? While midi’s play both up and down she is an offensive player. Maybe a few of the other choices should not be there. On the other hand you had a mid-fielder who led to COUNTY in POINTS, was 2nd in the SECTION and almost set a state record for assists left off the 1st TEAM. Can someone explain that one? As some other bloggers have eluded to, offense is a large part of these selections. There are 2 choices that are not even in the top 15 for points in the county. When I read these blogs I used to shake my head at the people who wrote about the politics but every time something gets picked, all county ESG team, all section now I’m starting to believe they are right.
Once again congrats to those who made the list, but as agreeing with laxwatcher the same message can be mentioned of the Westchester /Putnam list. It seems the same selection commitee does not like to spread the selections. Five players from Lakeland/Panas on the first team? For what it is worth, why aren’t stats for some of these players revealed. What is the selection criteria? Three midfielders on the first team had 40 or fewer goals. There are players on the second team and honorable mention with more goals. ......Could the second team be better than the first team?
Did some of those girls go out of section one and play ? Just a question !!! I really don’t know.
Lax…Politic, First of all, midfield is not only attack, it is defense as well. Second of all it’s not all about goals and scoring it is the assists, and the defense. And third of all , L/P as well as other teams in the power league, have much tougher schedules, so it’s harder to gain these stats. There’s a lot taken into consideration when developing these teams.
LAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX…. Please don’t play the Power Leauge Card. When you play within your league you are supposed be be playing tough schools becuase they are supposed to be on the same level. “So it’s harder to gain these stats”???? Look at the numbers- Top 2 goal scorers and 5 out of the top 10 in SECTION 1 were from the power league, 8 of the top 12 in assists in the section were from the power league, 7 of the top 10 in points in the section were from the power league. So it’s harder to gain numbers????? I think the question wasn’t about these girls it was about players in the non-power leagues that had great years but were “bumped” if you will simply because they are in a lower league. Look at some of the other leagues, there was parody in most of the leagues with a few exceptions here and there.
Laxwatcher- just curious- who would you have chosen for first team????
The idea of the power league is hogwash anyway! North Rockland only got one first team pick
