Girls lacrosse in the Lower Hudson Valley

State record leaves Section 1

Northwestern-bound Shannon Smith scored eight goals and added two assists to set the state record for career goals in West Babylon’s 19-16 win Thursday over North Babylon in Suffolk Division I girls lacrosse. Smith has 447 goals. The previous mark of 443 was set by Shari Maslin, who played at Clarkstown North (Section I) from 1999 to 2002.
